Palestinians should have full rights to self-govern, but not any power that poses a threat to us: Israeli Prime Minister.
Washington – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the two-state solution for Palestine.
During a meeting at the White House between the U.S. President and the Israeli Prime Minister, a journalist asked Donald Trump about his stance on the two-state solution. Trump deflected the question, saying, “The best person to answer that is sitting right in front of me.”
Responding to the journalist, Netanyahu said, “We want peace with the Palestinians, but an independent Palestinian state would become a platform to destroy Israel.”
He further stated that, “Palestinians should have full rights to govern themselves, but they should not have any powers that pose a threat to us.”
Netanyahu added, “This means that some powers, such as overall security, must always remain in our hands. People may say this doesn’t qualify as a full state, but we don’t care what people say.”
