The government has announced new prices for petroleum products.
According to the announcement, the price of diesel has been increased by Rs. 10.39 per liter and petrol by Rs. 8.36 per liter.
After the hike, the new price of petrol is Rs. 266.79 per liter, while diesel will now cost Rs. 272.98 per liter.
As per the notification, the new petroleum prices have come into effect immediately.
Sources reveal that a carbon levy of Rs. 2.50 has been imposed on the new petroleum prices.
They added that the levy on petrol has been reduced to Rs. 75.52 per liter, while the levy on high-speed diesel has been set at Rs. 74.51 per liter.
